Equine Assisted Therapy
Equine Assisted Therapy is a therapeutic technique in which horses
are used as a tool for emotional growth, learning, and healing. Experiential in nature, this form of therapy challenges clients in a nonthreatening manner, quickly breaking down defense barriers, and assists in bringing change from dysfunctional patterns to successful ones. Horses have a similar social system as people, are transparent about their feelings, and are very sensitive to our emotions, thus making them a powerful catalyst for positive change. The client participates in activities with the horses and then the therapist assists in discussion of the eelings, behaviors and patterns that emerged.
